Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured methodology used to translate customer needs and requirements into specific technical features and actionable deliverables during product or service development. Originating in Japan, QFD employs a series of matrices to align customer desires with engineering and business priorities. By systematically prioritizing and balancing conflicting demands, QFD ensures that the voice of the customer drives design decisions. This approach enhances quality, reduces development cycles, and minimizes costs by fostering cross-functional collaboration and maintaining a customer-focused perspective throughout the project lifecycle.
